WebPlatinum is the upgraded, final version of Diamond and Pearl. It is not a sequel. So there is essentially no reason to play D/P. Technically there are slight differences in the original games, such as a worse pokedex, slower game engine, weird trainer teams, mostly negative things. Story is basically identical, just without Giratina.
